10: Always send a case caption and service list, to save time while the court reporter writes down information at deposition site. In the alternative, bring an extra case caption you can give to the court reporter
9: Arrive an hour earlier, if you want the reporter to hook up to your laptop for realtime
8: If it’s a technical case, give expert report and word list to the court reporter prior to starting
7: Take the time to properly mark exhibits
6: Wait until the question has been answered before asking another question
5: If there is an interpreter at the deposition, please speak in the first person so the transcript can be legible
4: Don’t be too conversational or forget that a transcript is being made
3: When reading from a document, remind the witness to speak slowly
2: Ask the court reporter if they need a break every 2 hours
1: Tell the court reporter when you want the final transcript delivered and in what formats
